The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized the first group of truckers to use renewable fuels under the SmartWay Grow & Go program at GATS in Dallas, TX. With the help of new software, trucking companies and drivers can easily find biodiesel fuel sites along their routes. SmartWay OTR trucks are equipped with advance features that assist in idle reduction along with low rolling resistance tires that help in overall fuel effeciency.  Low rolling resistance is the measurement of how easily the tires roll while minimizing the energy that is wasted when heat between the road and the tire and within the tire sidewall and between the tire and rim.  Also at the show, the agency displayed a fleet of six new SmartWay-certified tractors and trailers that could reduce fuel consumption by as much as 20 percent.

Drivers can use their laptops or any desktop computer to located a truck accessible biodiesel fuel site on their selected route. At GATS, the National Biodiesel Board and ProMiles announced that the ProMiles XF software program would have available biodiesel locations.
